We left Jaipur and headed across the dry plains of Rajasthan for most of the day, arriving at the town outside the Ranthambhore NP at about 3. We arranged for a tour company to take us into the national park in a big open-top truck thing, and a few people paid extra to go in a jeep. The entrance to the park is a bit Jurassic Park but the forests inside are very dry at the moment and a lot of trees won't get leaves until the monsoon arrives. We didn't see any tigers but we did see a lot of birds, peacock, sambal and spotted deer and nilgai which is a type of antelope. We also saw monkeys and mongoose. All tiger food - we waited at a couple of waterholes to see if the tigers would come out but eventually we ran out of time and headed back into town at about 7pm. In the meantime the guys had found a hotel for us to camp in the garden of and use the pool, which was welcome considering it was well over 40 degrees and didn't cool down that much overnight.
