Back in Melbourne after spending Christmas in Wangarratta. I came back with Tom and Sarah on Boxing Day leaving David there for a few more days. I Went to the sales on 27th but didn't buy anything! That's a first. David returned and he went to the 5th day of the third test at MCG while I visited the tennis centre to see about buying tickets for the open which starts on 19th Jan. Managed to get 2 seats for evening session on the first day in the Rod Laver arena....

Christmas Eve - Tom, Sarah, their friend Alessandro (Ale), and I drove up to Wang to spend our Christmas with Mat and Kristy's family. David went up with Mat 2 days earlier so that they could go fishing. As last year, we stayed with Al, their father, while Kristy, Colin and Colin's parents stayed with Liz, their mother. Had a quiet week at Tom and Sarah's place. Did my Christmas shopping and we went for a lovely seafood meal at St Kildas, Melbourne's seaside area. Afterwards we watched a beautiful sunset over Port Philip Bay. Yesterday (19th) I went for a cycle ride along one of the many dedicated cycle tracks in the area. The one I took starts just 100 metres from the house and goes alongside the Maribyrnong River. The scenery is varied, with the Flemington horse race track...

10/12 landed in Melbourne and arrived at Tom and Sarah's place by 8 pm. Tom fired up the barbie and we relaxed. Their new house is about 5x bigger than the flat last year so it's great to not be tripping over each other! We spent an exciting next day unpacking and clothes washing after the past fortnight's travelling. 14/12. T & S had volunteered to host the annual 'orphans party' for all their friends which mainly means ex-pat 30 something's from around ...

8/12 We left Denmark and started the long (450km) drive towards Perth via an inland route that is basically one long straight road through an area called the western wheat belt. Well named as stretching to the horizon in every direction we could see golden wheat being harvested.
