We arrived at our hostel after a mega long bus journey – the most uncomfortable yet… which is saying a lot considering the people in South America have a tendency to drive like lunatics anyway!
We had to stop off at the border to get our passports stamped and for a few horrible minutes we thought we would have to pay a huuuuge fine because we couldn’t find our entry cards…Anna's face was a picture! lol.
We loved it from the second we got across the border. It was raining but of course you don’t get huge waterfalls without a little bit of rain! There was a bus stop on the Brazilian side of the Falls that just had a sign saying 'Argentina'!! We both looked like Jermaine and Michael in the Jackson Five. Afro's to die for. We were lucky and got straight onto the minibus to the hostel, which looked like a palace compared to some of the flee pits we had stayed in. Massive swimming pool, beautiful palm trees etc.
We made our way into town and went for tea at the most AMAZING restaurant… we had sirloin steak each, mash potatoes, veg, a bottle of lovely white wine and some mineral water all for 5 pounds each! What a meal!!!! Needless to say we were happy for the rest of the day. Neither of us could eat it all.
The following day we had a big adventure tour of the Iguasu waterfalls booked, due to dodgy spanglish communication we weren’t exactly sure what it would entail but we thought it sounded like fun! It definitely lived up to imagination… it was fantastic. We got taken right into the falls on a speed boat and needless to say got soaking wet, then we did a walk and a train ride round the rest of the park… it was great. We saw all sorts of animals, alligators, turtles, tucans, and some weird little furry creature (no not nic, we just cant remember their names)
We were shattered by the end of the day but all in all a brilliant introduction to Argentina!
