We arrived in the Sunshine Coast Saturday 13th after an 8 hour journey that started at 10am! The majority of the travel was on the train and the rest was by bus. A lot of time was taken up by getting on and off transport and waiting for the next departure, which was on average an hour.
When we arrived in the Sunshine Coast it was cloudy and quite humid, very similar to Cairns. The area we are staying in 'Mooloolaba' looks like a cross between the Gold Coast and Cairns.
Our hostel is called 'Mooloolaba Beach Backpackers' and is very lively. People were in the social area outside, playing pool, drinking, having a BBQ and there was a live band playing many types of music, such as Oasis and some made up tunes. We were not too sure if they were just backpackers also, as the band comprised of only a guitarist and a guy hitting a small drum.
Our room is quite basic, it has plain white walls, a double bed, T.V (which was not working at first) and we have our own bathroom! :) We also have a shared kitchen next door, which is great! :) but they have a strict rule, if you happen to accidentally set off the fire alarm, you will be fined over $900!! So we have to be very careful, lol ) Especially with our cooking history! lol
We took a look around the area for something to eat, as the supermarkets close early on a Saturday. It is heaven here for Coeliacs! More or less every restaurant cater for us and have even taken the time to put GF (Gluten free) next to the options on the menu, so I don't even have to enquire :) Ian isn't so keen on the menus though, however we have found a restaurant we both like the look of and may go there one evening :) yay!
There are quite a few interesting trips we are thinking of going on, one which is Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. We will keep you updated on what we decide to do.
Hope all is well at home:) not long till Christmas now! XX
