Hiya:)

We arrived in Cairns yesterday afternoon, it was still very hot and it was 4 in the afternoon!! the driver from the hostel, who picked us up, said that it was a cool day for Cairns! lol You could tell it was a hot location, because of the tropical plants everywhere.

When we got to our hostel, we were greeted by an old lady, who seemed a little strange, but nice:) I could imagine her to have been a bit of a hippy in her youth.

Our room is very plain, a white box really, with a double bed, fridge and wardrobe, but no tv this time!!! aughh lol

Today was a hot day, 33oc! This morning we walked a little way to a gym and had a small workout. Afterwards, we thought we would relax by the pool at the hostel for an hour, then explore the market just down the road. It was filled with hand crafted items, such as jewellery made out of Australian seeds, but we didnt buy anything.

Next to the market is the sea, but you cant swim in it! there are signs warning you of crocs and stingers ( Box jellyfish )!!!!! we wouldnt want to swim in it anyway, as the water was brown! lol So a very large pool has been put near by, which looks great and very popular.

This evening, we went out for a meal, which depending on what you choose to eat is free or discounted, because of where we are staying. There are some good options too.

After our dinner, outside we heard some loud sounds in the sky, we looked up and there were bats flying around everywhere! We noticed them earlier in the day, all hanging from a tree in the hot sun! We were surprised as we thought they only lived in caves, or dark places in the day. Anyway, we were silly enough this evening to walk towards them all and walk under the tree heh! their droppings were all over cars and we thought one had fallen on Ian's head! lol

After all of that, we thought we should have some well deserved homemade icecream and frozen yougurt! lol Dont worry, we didnt make it! lol
