Hi everybody, hope your all good and well, and enjoying english summer. We're on our last day in Australia, very upsetting, we've had such a good time. The last months have been crazy!!!
After Brisbane we went on to Surfers Paradise, which is well known for a good partying nightlife, however we didn't actually experience this because a friend of ours hooked us up with staying in an amazing luxury apartment with a gorgeous seaview... we spent most evenings in one of the three pools, or the spa... ahhhh we were flashpackers- not backpackers for a couple of days! We did go to a theme park called dreamworld which was good fun, not quite american or even alton towers standard but we had a good time. After Surfers we went to Byron Bay where on the bus we met up with two boys, Ed and Guy, who we'd bumped into a couple of times on the way down the coast, and we stayed with them until they left a couple of weeks later from sydney. Ed is going to southampton university so Anna is very excited that she has a friend!!
Byron Bay was amazing, we had really good weather and spent most days messing around on the beach and in the surf, also took a walk up to the lighthouse which was good fun. We were there for about a week but could have stayed much longer because the atmosphere was so nice and chilled out and it was so beautiful!!
After Byron bay we had a day at surf camp... where suprisingly we learnt how to surf!! This was really good fun, the waves weren't amazing but that was a good thing as all we could manage were tiny waves. Emily was pretty good at it, lots of standing up...and quickly falling off!!
We then caught the bus down to sydney where we stayed for a week. It was really good fun, lots to do. On the first day we went jet boating which was AMAZING and we got very wet, it was good to beable to woosh around the harbour as well, loads of good views. We spent most days just wandering round the city, we visited bondi and manly beach which were really nice, went up the tower, walked along the bridge. We met up with quite a few friends from home, which was nice. We went out at night quite alot to, there are loads of nice bars around and so we didn't spend very much time in our smelly hostels.
After Sydney we had a 3day adventure tour down to Melbourne, this was nice as we didn't have to organise anything oursleves and we could just relax...so we thought. The first day we went to Canberra which is the capital, not a lot happening there, we went to a museum and the parliment house... we now know more about australian politics than english! The second day we went to the snowy mountains and did a beautiful snow walk through them. It was really god fun but very wet and cold... we were preparing for next week in new zealand!!! That night we stayed at the beach and had a lovely campfire, emily was the toasting marshmellows master, it was a really nice nighwe had a really good time until emily lost her phone... IOn the final day of the tour we went to Wilsons Prom national park which was nice, we did an walk along the coast but it started raining.... it felt like england :(
Then we were back at melbourne, we had a couple of nights with Jac and John and Camille, which was nice to see them again, then we came back up to Bendigo. We haven't done to much this week, tried to relax and get everything sorted out. We went camping to a national park with a couple of guys off the tour which was good fun, a nice oputunity to do a bit of driving aswell. It was quite sad as we'd visited the national park the first day we were in Australia... we're going to miss it so much. But then we are off to New Zealand which will be amazing but also very very cold. We've both bought wooly hats youll be pleased to know!!! hope to hear from you all, speak soon xxxx
