After a few days without internet service in Tiberias, we finally arrived in Jerusalem. While in the area of Tiberias we were overwhelmed by the sites and places we visited. We began our journey in Ceaserea and walk around the remains of King's Herod's palace along the Mediterranean Sea. We left this area and headed to Nazerth. Nazerth was extremely congested and busy city but what an amazing experience visiting the site of Jesus' childhood. We have learned that anywhere there is something related to Jesus' life you will find a church usually a Catholic church has been built to commerate the area. We also visited Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine.
After leaving Nazerth we went to Tiberias and began our next day sailing on the Sea of Galilee. We stopped in the middle of the Sea and sang a few hymns and Wes read from the Bible. What an awesome experience. We made our way to shore and headed to Capernaum. To the see the home of Peter's mother-n-law and where the 4 men lower the crippled man through the roof. After a long bus ride to Ceaserea Philippi we have a whole new appreciation of the distance Jesus and his disciples traveled by foot to each of these locations. Simply overwhelming. We returned to the area around the Sea of Galilee and went to an area they believed Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection as well as the hill for the Sermon on the Mount. We ended our day with a baptism by Wes by one of our travelers in the Jordan River.
Leaving Tiberias we stopped along the Sea of Galilee for a group communion before heading upward toward Jerusalem. Coming into Jerusalem is truly an amazing experiece as it sits atop a hill surround by a massive amount of buildings and hills of settlements and the West Bank wall and check points. Bethlehem was our next stop but as it sits within the West Bank area we went through our first check point into Palestenian territory, Vivisting the birth place of Jesus was both surreal and overwhelming. The amount of people and their country of origin made this quite an experience in itself. Entering the cave which Jesus was born was a solemn experience. We ended this day visiting one of the few remaining fields in the area and the one dedicated to The Shepherd's of Jesus birth. Tomorrow promises to be full of even more wonderful experiences.
