So, now my time here at Wyndyarra Estate is nearly over. It has been some absolutely awesome days lately with Sean. He has taken me a lot around in the area in his car, and since the weather has been quite bad, I had not much work to do on the farm. We went Thursday to Grafton, north direction some hundred kilometres, where we spent a day in a café, shopping in Aldi and going for a walk in the park. It was nice! Friday we went for a couple of hours to Coffs Harbour and Saturday we went on a very long sightseeing tour down south to first Bellingen, where we went to the huge markets, before we drove up the mountains to Dorrigo, Sean's favourite place in the world;) And no wonder - it was beautiful!!! We drove through several National Parks, passed waterfalls and clear creeks, surrounded by rainforest. We went to a huge waterfall and walked down into the bottom of the canyon, it was really great. The weather has turned now and we have 35 degrees and baking sun all day, which is really enjoyable. On the way back we got onto a dirt road and drove many km through absolutely stunning landscape. We ended the day by having a fire under the clear sky! We baked dampa bread in the fire and ate with honey for desert, it was delicious. Sunday I just fed the horses in the morning and after I cooked pancakes for us for breakfast ( I got really good at making them tasty;), I packed my swimming gear and we drove to Coffs Harbour. I got dropped off on the beach, where I intended to stay the whole sunny day and get brown (yes, after all this bad weather we have had lately, all my colour is gone:( so need to work on it again). I watched the surfers for some time - I have to learn to do surfing, it's so cool! Then I got completely wet from a wave and discovered that the tide was coming, and I decided to go to town and check out the markets. It was a very cosy small market with only local people and everything was organic or handmade. It was a lot nicer than the big Bellingen market from the day before, but I ended up not buying anything in anyway;) Later I went down to the beach again and I spent the afternoon on the beach, reading. Sean came and picked me up at 5pm and we drove back. I found out that we have a snake living under the wooden floor in the cottage, it had left a skin in the corner and we can sometimes hear it - spooky!!
My work is mainly to take care of the baby now while Bec is riding, but that is quite enjoyable as well, she is so cute! I still train some of the horses in the morning, but my day is fairly easy. When it was raining I got to sit and do the tack for some hours, that was really boring, so I am very pleased that the good weather has returned!
Well, my last days were really nice and relaxing as well, at some point we got hit by a hailing-storm, and the weather was in general so bad that it was impossible to ride(too slippery). So instead I watched a movie with Sean, made us some pancakes and managed to finish off my 2kg book I have been carrying around for quite some time now. Today I drove with Sean to a café, where we got a piece of nice italian cheese-cake and coffee, and he even gave me some presents and a card(was pretty embarrasing that I hadn't really thought about that, but well..) He gave me among other things a very beautiful australian necklace, will make photo and show later;) He dropped me off at the Coffs YHA and I will be heading to Ballina tomorrow, where my next farm-experience will take place;) A very nice couple of weeks (mainly thanks to Sean) has ended, but I am sure I made the best of the time there!!
