Our road trip around the northland begins in Paihia, a nice little town in the Bay of Islands that you can imagine gets unbearably busy in summer! There was four of us for this part of the 'tour', of course myself, al and charlie, and another girl, Michala, who worked briefly with al and charlie in auckland. We set up camp on a small campsite just outside Paihia witch had its own beach onto which our tent opened! the campsite was by far the most luxurious of the week! WE took a motor boat out onto the Bay of Islands for the day which was so much fun because we had dolphins swimming right up close to the boat for ages and then moored the boat on an isolated beach! The boat its self was very impressive too, it was fun to drive and went pretty fast! It was a fairly hot day too, when the wind wasn't blowing!!! The sea was very very cold though but it was fun jumping it because the water was so clear and it was still warm enough to sunbathe and dry out!!
