on the way back to auckland we stopped to look at some massive Kauri trees in Waipoua Forest. The pictures just do not do them justice......they were just huge, the most amazing one i thought was 'the father of the forest' it was about 16m round the trunk, its hard to remember exactly how huge that was!! it also seemed to have a face which gave it a very spiritual edge, like it really was watching over the forest, especially since it was about 25min walk through dense bucs to get to it, so it was right in the middle of lots of little trees, that we actully though were pretty big untill we saw this one!!! we were all just speechless for about 5 minuites when we first saw this tree, it just takes yout breath away.
