Doing final preparations for my next Epic Voyage. A lot has happened since my last blog post from Morocco, including starting my own travel consultancy! I've been doing specialized training in various places on my own travel wish list, and that recently led me to an opportunity to go on a FAM ("familiarization") trip to Jordan! This is a study tour for travel advisors to immerse in a destination. It was extremely last minute and the timing isn't great, with COVID concerns among other things, but I recognized this is truly a one in a lifetime opportunity. I'll be getting the full 5* treatment that clients will receive, and experience things that are not usually available to tourists. During the requisite visit to Petra, we'll be having a private candlelight dinner in Little Petra, visiting and having meals with Bedouin families in their homes, and experiencing the vastness of the starry night in the desert of Wadi Rum, just to name a few. The fact that there should be very few tourists around should make it an extra special experience. It's a short 10 days, but should be absolutely wonderful. We have a professional photographer joining us for candid shots so I'll have better marketing images than just selfies!
