In my last days with Kopila Nepal, I went all over the place with Prakash on the back of his motor bike. This included a visit to another NGO to have a look at their accounting software to see if it was any better than they had (it wasn't) .
I also was there to witness the building of the 'roof' of their new office, which involved more than 50 workers: some mixing cement, others lifting it onto the first floor in buckets, then others laying it out to provide a floor for the first level. An amazing sight to watch so many people in action.
When finished, the offices will enable them to move from the Director's house- a nice location, but not the most ideal situation. It did mean that Bina would try to feed me, whether I said that I had eaten or not.
I delayed my trip back to Kathmandu when I was invited to a family wedding- cue lots of eating. The photo shows Prakash, myself and the Treasurer being fed on my last working day!
Nepalese weddings are lengthy affairs, and I only saw one part of it!The bride and groom went through numerous rituals. It being a Hindu wedding, it was all very confusing to an outsider, but I was well looked after by Binod (the groom's brother)
I was sad to leave them all, and Pokhara.I think I may have promised that I would go back.It was frustrating to only be there a week, and not be able to do a lot (in my view), or implement the new system that they really needed.I kept saying that 'when the next volunteer comes, they can do this', but it seemed to be 'when you come back....'.I'd love to, and hope to soon, but another volunteer would be able to come sooner.
