Clothes Shopping.
We got up for breakfast as usual and after Mae had chatted to Matt for an hour we went out with the plan to find Mae a salsa dress. We walked back to dress street, passing sports street, lighting street (with all the light on the market stalls turned on!!) and Hardware street along the way. Mae went back to a few of the shops which she had been in before and this time we discovered that if you ask them for what you want they also have stacks of dresses which are not on display... Mae tried on several dresses in one shop and then another couple in a second. Although there were several nice dresses to chose from, they appear to only come in one size and it turned out to be difficult to find one in Mae's size, she is clearly not Bolivian shaped!! She eventually found one which was perfect and asked the nice lady to hold it for her while we went to the bank. After returning to pick up the dress ($20) we then walked down cake street and came across a huge market which took up several city blocks selling everything from fruit to clothes to electronics. We looked round here for the next hour or so and picked up a long sleeved t-shirt for myself ($7), half a pound of peanuts ($0.75) and half a dozen plums ($0.50). The market is incredible with so many stalls that it must be impossible to choose who to buy from! Emerging from the market we found a little mexican cafe where we ordered a chicken quesadilla and 2 coffees which were delicious and cost a total of $2.50!! As we were walking back to the hostel we came across shoe street and here I managed to pick up a pair of leather soled shoes which are danceable as well as smart for $25. Before going back we just had time to pick up a bottle holder and book a ticket to Copacabana for tomorrow afternoon before heading back to the hostel for a rest. That evening as there was no dancing we headed out briefly to grab some dinner, Mae had Salsapapas, which is hot dog sausages with chips and I had a Burger which came with egg, chips, peppers and rice in it!! (yes inside the burger) After this light supper we went back to the hostel and watched 127 hours on the computer a film which Mae has been meaning to watch for about a year!!
