Getting up at 5.30 was a killer, not half as bad as the next 8 hours cramped on a pblic bus with an hour break in the middle to cross the border, fun fun!! We arrived in Pnom Penh, had lunch, looked round the Central Marketwhich did not have what we were aftre. That evening Jon Yvette (Ozzy) and James (funny Cockney geezer) and I went out for a few beers, games of pool and something to eat. I had a BLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tuna).
We went to the Royal Palace after breakfast where the architecture was amazing, then the Silver Pagoda where hte floor was silver with various gold buddha inside, one weighing 90kg. The national museaum was a bit boring but the architecture was impressive none the less. After a stintin the cramped and humid Russian Market and lunch, we headed over the roadto the genocide museam, previousy a school then a prison during the Khmer Rouges sickening regime it was used for torture. Blood stains on the ceiling, pictures of torture and death and the methods shown made for a very sombre experience, but a very important one to understand Cambodia. The Choeung Ek killing fields where Pol Pot sent people to be killed were awful. The charnel house contained over 8000 skulls and walking round the fields we walked over the bones of the victims which I think is very disrespectful. That evening after a few beers we went to a very seedy club 'The Heart of Darkness' but it was tooseedy for my liking!
