Hi guys, been in Hong Kong since Saturday but first let me retract to my last week & a half in Thailand. I spent a couple of days in Ayutthaya which as I previously said is a historic city with plently of temples (Wat's) to visit; It reminded me a little of Wells (city I went to school). Got plenty of photos of ruins & current temples in Ayutthaya, used to be capital of Siam a long time ago. Also my legs got bitten alive by mosquitos whilst there - rivers' surround the city. One night I went to the next 'village' for some food/drink, this was a mistake! Literally no one could speak English, menu was all in Thai so I just decided to pick randomly off menu - it turned out the food was delicious but I drank too much Chang that night,
Went onto another city that I just randomly decided at the train station (have not been using a guidebook - just the internet occasionally) I decided on Lop Buri with no idea what will be there. I ended up staying there a couple of nights; really peaceful & had nice accommadation. When I walked around late at night I noticed there was a Monkey on the street & then I gradually realised there were hundreds' of monkeys. It took me by surprise at first but I got used to it - & they are only on a couple of blocks in the city. I had a YBF moment - I was infactuated with watching these monkeys whilst walking that I banged my head on a signpost - a whole bus full of school kids were laughing at me, all I could do was smile with thumbs up back. Went back to Pattaya to collect my bag, nothing really to report - spent every evening in various bars whilst there.
Have been in Hong Kong for 5 days now. I have enjoyed my time here. I do feel 3 weeks is going to be a long time. I think a week is plenty enough to get around the sights. I have visited 5 museums already - which have been amazing and the exhibitions are very modern. Yesterday went on a tour around new terrotories which is the land between HK & China. Today I explored Hong Kong Island a bit more, currently staying on the mainland in a place called Kowloon - where most guest houses are situated. It's not as expensive as I first thought it would be - except the alcohol £4/5 a pint. Also I am not great with chopsticks & a lot of restaurants take pity on me & give me a fork - which I take, but am gradually learning with the sticks. I will look to getting a visa to China for a couple of days just to visit other places. That's it for now, take care.
