The Countdown Begins

I enjoyed a day off from my hectic and seemingly never ending work schedule this Monday and took the opportunity to try and FINALLY book mine and Lucy's travel tickets. I'd tried a couple of times to book the tickets before - the first time I just popped in and was told I'd need an appointment, Ok I'd like to book an appointment on Sunday, we don't do appointments on Sunday you just have to drop in... right... naturally the next day after a particularly drunken visit by Newcastle's RAG Raiders I wasn't able to make it until late and was once again turned away. Damn! The second time I had a booked appointment for Wednesday, but then I was called towards the end of Tuesday to be told that my appointment had to be cancelled as the person my appointment was with wouldn't be in on Wednesday. It seemed the gods had it against me booking these tickets!

Thankfully I had no such problems this final time. I went to lunch at Revos enjoyed a vodka burger and a pint of stella - very tasty and allowed for some quick checking and rechecking of our travel plans and dates. My dad seemed to like revos a bit too much than I deemed appropriate for his age, he was the oldest there by a solid 20 years, but I kept such details to myself since he was going to be paying for my flights and as it turned out - Lunch - yay!

So the appointment was at 3pm I figured since I had the route and appropriate airlines already printed out for both Lucy and me that it shouldn't take too long to have it all wrapped up and told Lucy I'd probably be calling her between 3:15 and 3:30pm. I ended up calling at 4:30pm. The appointment took FOREVER. It seems that the route planner online is utter nonsense. So once I clarified where it was we wanted to go Louisa was off on the computer ... but naturally it couldn't be so simple afterall the gods had it against this trip. Due to our route she was first only able to use what she described as the slow computer system, then it refused to allow her to book both me and lucy on flights at the same time, so she had to first book me and then lucy on them all, and this worked fine until !!BEEP!! There are not any available seats for Lucy on my flight, so she has to go back remove me from the flight add me to the next one then try adding Lucy to that one. But we got there in the end and in the end all the last minute changes to try and alter dates ended up amounting to little as they more or less reverted back to their original days for the flights.
