Amy's Travels 2006
HI EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in a whole new country again!! So much to say and so little time!!! I have been sailing through the Whitsunday Islands - fantastic!! We hung out with a group of 5 newly graduated doctors from Nottingham who were very funny and I have been scuba diving and snorkelling on the great barrier reef. It was amazing saw so much cool stuff although the company I went with was a bit dodge and I had to check all my equipment before the dive, finding my regulator wasn't working properly. For the layman that means I would have run out of air in 2 minutes and been in big trouble!!!!!! Whitsundays were cool - think about a massive catamaran, sitting on deck all day, drinking, snorkelling - oh and there was a camera crew and I got very drunk and they asked me to interview backpackers - said I was a natural and should consider working on TV - no joke! I think the huge quantities of Australian Beer gave me the courage for that... so maybe not such a realistic career opportunity!?
Very sad to leave Australia. It is the most amazing country and so many cool things to do but we are in New Zealand now, staying at Rhia's uncles house in Christchurch. Tasha can only describe this house as something you would see on MTV cribs and she is more interested in taking photos of the house than the beautiful scenery!! Haha seriously its so nice here and we are being well looked after. Rhia's uncle owns a chain of indian restaurants and we went and ate at one last night and we ate so much we couldn't sleep! HAHA!!
Today Tasha and I took a 10 hour return train journey from Christchurch on the East coast of the island to Greymouth on the West, through the mountains. It was spectacular - snow capped with sheep! SO COLD HERE! Like baltic!! and quite disappointed at that because we have been in tropical climates for the last 2 - 3 months and have nice tans and sun bleached hair! The scenery thank fully makes up for that. Rhia didn't do the train journey as she had done it before!
One final thank you to my father for his constant reminder of my poor use of grammar. I am aware of my mistake. The plural of dingo, is dingoes and I realise the incorrect use of '. In my defence when I write this journal it is usually a race against the timer in the top right hand corner as you have to pay per 15 minutes, which is also why I have no photos up but if you hold on I will upload some soooon! If not you are invited to my house for a jolly good slide show in early July... put the kettle on, Mum! Oh and you have to bring me a present as an entry fee :) Only kidding!!
