A very long day/s! A 13hr trip to LAX. I was starting to get edgy at about 9 hours! Tried to get up regularly and drink the water they offered; I was surprised how few ppl got up to exercise where we sat.
It was exciting coming into LAX and seeing all the lights. We were sitting next to a gentleman from oz coming to the USA to play tennis who pointed out a few things to us.
Once we passed customs we were unsure whether to exit to LA or stay in airport for our connecting flight 8-9 hours later. We opted to exit the airport, but where very disappointed to discover it poorly equipped for tourists. There where no maps or info stands. No bus or transportation schedules, so feeling tired and a bit lost we walked about and around to a different terminal. There were virtually no shops or seats about in the terminals, so we walked back to the original terminal and snagged two of the rare seats in a quiet terminal, spending the morning trying to rest with sporadic success. The terminal become busy over the day and we were very thankful for our seats.
Lunch consisted of unique egg sandwiches.
Checking in to fly to Mexico was a Very slow process as they only had a few check in staff so again we were glad we has arrived to terminal early. We were happily surprised that when checked our 'carry on bags' fit well in the carry on frame!
Flight to Mexico was uneventful and only 3.5hours. We sat next to a man who was traveling to Mexico for work- on temples. He works with Morman temples and had been to NZ, Hamilton to help with that one there. Loved what he had seen of NZ, of course!
Catching connecting flight to Lima was straight forward and thankfully only 1.5 hours between arrival and departure. Feeling very weary now and hoping to sleep Mexico-Lima ready to start South American Thursday!
