Dalhousie Ruins, South Australia Jul 8, 2013 First stop of the day was at the Dalhousie Ruins. There wasn't much of the houses left. I couldn't imagine how lonely it would have been for the two original people living there!
Pedirka Railway Station Ruins, South Australia Jul 7, 2013 We stopped and had a look around the Pedirka station ruins. This is where the old Ghan steam train stopped to fill up with water! There is no track left at all now, just a few odd pieces of metal scattered around. We also saw a car upside down and half buried with sand.
Oodnadata, South Australia Jul 7, 2013 Our first stop after leaving Coober Pedy was Oodnadata, Australia's driest and hottest town!! Not much there, just a PINK roadhouse and a few houses! We had lunch at the roadhouse and bought a few pink souvenirs! We let the tyres down and went back on our way...
Coober Pedy, South Australia Jul 6, 2013 We drove over 500km today to get to Coober Pedy!! The road was incredibly flat and there isn't much to look at apart from a few emus, the odd eagle and a few random cows and sheep! I was a bit disappointed when we got here though as I had my hopes up to stay in an underground hotel. They didn't have any rooms left, so we have set up camp in a rather packed caravan park! At least I get to see the town right....??!!
Woomera, South Australia Jul 6, 2013 We drove into Woomer on our way to Coober Pedy. It seemed like a pretty deserted town, didn't see anyone apart from passers by! There was a display of rockets in the street. Woomera is the home of the AIAA - America's institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
