The last two days have been filled with lots of fun and exploration. Yesterday we headed down to the Contiki Basement to collect our Checkout London package and then set about to explore London by foot. We were initially a little confused by the streets and street signs and ended up making lots of discoveries simply by stumbling across them! We have now mastered the art of map reading and I must say we are quite good at navigating our way around.
Yesterday we saw Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Leceister Square and the London Eye. We were lucky enough to score ourelves some last minute discount tickets for the London Eye just in timefor the sunset flight! It was stunning - you can see for thirty miles from the top! We then headed back to Trafalgar Square for dinner and off to see Les Miserables at the Queen St. theatre! (our tickets were included in the contiki package).
Today we hopped on a sightseeing bus tour which took us to Buckingham Palace, St. James Palace, St. James Park and many other intersting places. We were lucky enough to join a walking tour just in time to see the Changing of the guards! (Did you know it takes three bears to make one of those bearskin hats!)
We then hopped on a river cruise of the Thames and headed up the river to Greenwich to stand on the meridian line. Have now just stopped in at the internet cafe before dinner and will then head home before another day of sightseeing tomorrow!
Having a great time, the weather has been excellent - sunny! (who says it always rains in London!) We are both safe and well and are looking forward to the beginning of our tour on Saturday. This may be the last time I am blogging before we leave and I am not sure what it will be like trying to email whilst on tour so communication may not be frequent.
Love you all and missing you too!
