Sorry it has taken so long we have been on islands with no wifi in our hotels!!
We awoke in Bangkok to the terrific sound of lightening the streets were flooded around a foot deep which we had to wade through to grab breakfast. We spent the morning booking buses to and from the islands we wish to visit and Chang Mai in the north. We have planned the next two weeks thoroughly and upset we cannot fit everything we wanted to see in Thailand but that means well have to return in the future.
At lunch time the rain had stopped and the floods miraculously had dried up so we enjoyed a bit of shopping before getting a taxi to China Town. We wandered round the streets of China Town taking in the different smells of food. Shops filled the streets with numerous street food diners to get tucked into. After a good two hours of wandering and getting lost in the small streets and alleyways we took a stool in a street stall and tucked into some soup noodles which the locals suggested. IT WAS SO SPICY HOT!!
Once we headed back to our hostel we ventured to the top floor where we had the pleasure of a roof top pool which was amazing. We hopped in and relaxed until we had to get out to board our sleeper bus to Koh Phangnan. It was a long night where we stopped numerous times once for food at 12pm at a massive supermarket filled with sugary s*** so Ed and I enjoyed a packet of crisps for dinner haha. It didn't help that a 3 month baby was on our bus crying continuously and my seat was wet from a leak in the roof. But hey ho needs must! We had to keep changing buses and ferries until we finally reached Asia's top party island.
We had arranged a free pick up from the pier and made our way to our concrete bungalow on the beach!! The weather was great so we planned a day of taking in the sunshine and lazying on the beach before exploring later for dinner. We had a drink on the beach and then got a taxi into the center where we shopped for a bit and went for food at a small food market. We tucked into various things, spring rolls, sushi, noodles, fruit shakes and brownies yum!! We had a shower and got ready and headed to the bar where we got talking to 3 Aussies. We hit it off straight away and ended up going to another bar with them and then to the famous jungle party. It was crazy travelling up through the jungle until there was a clearing with speakers, bars, dance floors, fire dancers etc. we had a good night and got in at a ridiculous hour.
We spent the day at total wipeout with the Aussies!! Was wicked and got some good tricks on camera especially when Ed got flung 6 metres in the air before hitting the water. We had rented a scooter for the day and had a drive around the island where we saw elephants and beaches in the middle of the sea which we ventured out to!! So picturesque. We have got on really well with the Aussies and they find our accent so soothing and they've been teaching us a thing or two too haha. We hit the famous walking street market together where we ate some dinner noodles etc and purchased our outfits for the full moon party. We began to drink and got talking to another 2 couples. We all hit it off and planned to go the beach party together. What a crazy night it was we didn't get back till 8am, we were people watching all night the party was crazy!!! We had to be really careful as tourists are vulnerable at parties but we managed to stick together and had an awesome night partying away. Once we got back we had a swim and watched the sun rise the water was so shallow so we could go quite far, we even saw an octopus which we picked up.
The next day was wasted due to us all feeling very sorry for ourselves. We ate ate and ate around the pool. Ed headed out on the canoe with chase the Aussie for a fish whilst we napped and then we all went out to dinner seeing as though it is one of the girls birthdays. We went to an amazing western restaurant and I was daring enough to have..CHICKEN so I am no longer veggie. It was good and looked like a proper piece of meat. Ed had a full on roast dinner which he thoroughly enjoyed his gravy with my chips went down so well, it wasn't quite bisto but it was good to say the least.
Being shattered after only 3-4 hours sleep in the past 2 days we turned in early. We have our 2 ferries and a bus tomorrow that take us to Koh phi phi. We were sad to say bye to our new friends as we got on so well!! But we have said to meet in Bangkok before we both fly home and they will show us a night out in Sydney.
It was hard to get up but we did and headed for the ferry at 6:30am. We are so excited for Koh phi phi our accommodation looks promising on the beach again tucked into the jungle with breath taking views. We have agreed to just chill out and relax giving our livers a well deserved rest as we have drunk the majority of our trip!! When we arrived it was everything we imagined we had to check in by the pier and a boat big enough for 4 took us to the resort. We were truly in the middle of no where our lodge on sticks stands on the edge of the sea with trees around it!! It's beautiful with a stunning view of the sunset. That evening we sat watched the sunset and took the boat back to the beach for somewhere to eat. Charlotte had suggested a restaurant which from the outside does not look great but me and Ed were so impressed I had a Panang curry and ed a massuman!! 2 famous thai curries and they tasted delish!! We then booked a boat trip for 2 days time where we travel around the island seeing gorgeous bays like the famous maya bay in the film The Beach!! When returning to the lodge we had some new friends lizards, geekos and bugs had joined us but as long as they weren't in our bed net I was fine.
The next day was very lazy however we did walk to the beach through the jungle which we shall never do again it was tough work. We sat on the beach all day the weather was amazing and the sea is the nicest I've ever seen it is clear for miles!! It's really salty too so you can just float and catch a tan. Before sunset we set off to go and visit Koh phi phi's famous viewpoint where you can see the whole island. It was a trek and when we finally reached the top we were sweating!! The view was amazing though and we could see the devastation one wave done to this tiny island back in 2004. As this is the most beautiful island it didn't take long for the residents all over Thailand to restore paradise. After sunset we travelled back by boat and got ready before getting back on the boat and ventured to a fish restaurant as we've heard it's amazing here I had prawn red curry and veg and ed tucked into crab red curry and rice. Was delicious we have definitely increased our spice intolerance as we now eat chillis without sweating!! We headed to see the nightlife and the streets were packed due to men walking around with poor little monkeys it wasn't nice and I know it's illegal!! We made it to the bars on the beach where there were fire dancers which was very impressive. We turned in early again as were up early to board the boat trip!!
We awoke got ready had breaky and went to board our boat trip. We walked with the group of about 20 to the boat where we travelled from 11-6 around the island visiting bays and lagoons like maya bay from the Hollywood film the beach, monkey beach where the monkeys were scary and attacked a child, Vikings cave just a massive old cave in the sea, bamboo island where the water was crystal clear and snorkelled at shark point where during certain times of the day sharks arise. It was a really fun day!! We then headed for dinner where I had famous massuman curry it was amazing. Thai food is amazing when it's cooked great!! We then showered and headed back out where we spent the night in stones bar watching fire shows chilling out with cocktails etc. we headed back for our last night in the lodge :(!!
Today is leaving day and we don't want to go. Paradise is amazing and I will definitely return it's been an epic few days just chilling out just Ed and I. Today we are off for brunch after a good lay in and late shower and check out and then going for a Thai massage by the sea before boarding the ferry back to Bangkok. We did plan to go find ed some flip flops too as he left his on the beach last night shows what a state he was but luck was on his side and they sat on the beach where he had left them!!
A lot of friends we have made all have go pro cameras for their videos and images and me and ed are planning on grabbing one ourselves to share! It a tiny camera that can be strapped to your body whilst you for example sky dive.
We hope all is well. It doesn't matter how busy we are we still talk about home all the time and are constantly saying so and so would love this etc. Travellers always talk about their pets and I would love to cuddle the cats right now and take blaze out for a walk in the cold!! Right after tucking into some mince dumplings and mash yummmm.
Anyway we shall update you again soon Ed and Amy xxx
