In the jungle, the mighty jungle, Ami does not sleep at night due to the threat of spiders in bed! However Hacienda Tijax is wonderful in all other respects. Staying in little cabins on stilts on a jungle island. Awesome place just to chill out & my goodness the food is delish! Another first...sunset swim in a jungle pool. Perfect antidote for the sweltering wet heat. Sadly still being eaten alive by mosquitos :(

Hate to say it but starting to feel a bit over ruins! Due topini still loving them tho! Crossed the border into Guatemala at crazy o'clock this morning then on to Tikal on a road that was more pot hole than highway. The site at Tikal was humungous!! Very lost world with temples emerging from jungle. Top fact: the ruins were used as the Ewok's home planet, Endor, in Star Wars.

So on 11th Feb we crossed the border from Mexico to Belize via speedboat!! Leaving Mexico was a touch scary what with all the armed police & sniffer dog inspecting each of our bags. Speedboat took 2 hours to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Was ridiculously bumpy (see photo of waves out the door behind my seat) however managed to enjoy an 1 hour Will Smith in Independence Day & the rest napping. Am learning to sleep on anything!
