The first of many weird mummies to be seen over the next few months. This area of Latin America has the oldest mummies ever found. The people of Tiwanaku would curl the bodies up into foetus position then wrap then in a woven, rope basket to simulate the womb. Weird!

First cultural experience of the day...a visit to the Museo Archeologico. Cost 25Bs a ticket but because they had run out of adult tickets the staff gave us 5 child tickets (each with a face value of 5Bs) stapled together!!! Right...now I have left La Paz I can now tell you all about the crazy protesting in La Paz throughout my 8 days there. Didn't mention it before as didn't want to worry anyone but then perhaps you heard all about it on BBC international news.
