Well after an 11 hour flight and 2 hours getting through immigration - we made it to LA!! Despite it being Dave's birthday and the start of our trip, we didn't manage to get an upgrade but hey ho! We then picked up our Nissan Altima and set off to our hostel in Santa Monica - driving in 7-lane traffic on the right hand side was interesting (and that was just one way!) but after a few wrong turns we made it!
We were soooo tired but as it was Dave's birthday and our first night in Santa Monica, we went for a walk down the pier and found an amazing food place (called Big Dean's mucle-in cafe) - right by muscle beach! The burgers were joooooiiiisssssyyyyyy! Good start to our food exploits - the main reason for actually coming to America....
We're still getting used to being in a hostel - meeting people in the communal areas is good, the shared bathrooms - less so! Reminds me of being back in boarding school so I'm sure I'll get used to it soon...
Yesterday we explored Santa Monica and walked down to Venice Beach, a real creative place with amazing sights but some real weirdos knocking about! The weather was perfect - sunny but not too hot, and we had a great time taking it all in...
The next few days will involve exploring LA (including a trip to the Warner Bros studios) and also meeting Laura - who just happens to be in San Diego at the same time as us for work!

Dawn Kennerley Oh you werent joking about Muscle Breach!!! Sounds amazing Amie, happy belated birthday Dave. Glad you are both there safe and well. Dont eat too many burgers or all that Imran pain will be wasted (or maybe thats what it all was for!?). Miss you lady xxx

Amie Thanks for all the comments :) Lau - it is cold here (for LA) - jeans and jumpers recommended! Dawn - I have some AMAZING photos of muscle beach, it's a gym on the beach and should give some inspiration to muscle gym!! We have started the nack of sharing main courses - they are HUGE and half is more than enough for a normal person... Nicola - Dave is DEFO driving - although I am navigating, which in interesting... Rich (presume this is Bonesy?!) - we went to Bob's Big Boy today in Hollywood, Dave said you recommended it and the food was AMAZE-BALLS (altho we did share a half pound burger!) Miss you all xx
