Day 6,7,8
So ....Bangkok!
We arrived in the City at 8pm after a taxi jouney from a driver we think has never driven in Bangkok before! A bit of walking the streets and we found a place to stay. New Siam 2. A quick change and off to sample some local bars. Unbelievable heat and a 'few beers' went down nicely.
The next morning Amandas watched stopped so a bit later than planned we went to see a few sights. Well, that was the plan .... However the heat made the cafe outside the Royal alace much more appealling. So we watched the day plus the protestors go by. Glad we only stayed a few days as the protestors were beginning to step up a gear. Roads and shooping malls closed and after being advised to avoid busy areas a sightessing day turned into a chilled day instead.
In the night we headed to Koh San Road, where all the travellers hang out. Whilst very touristy we joined in the craziness and properly painted the town! Highlights of the night included: dodging glass bottles being thrown in the restaurant as some guy upset the lady thai owner; Meeting Craig - Amandas old school friend; some gin and tonic buckets (this was all before 10pm); Meeting Daniel, Amandas cousin and some of his football mates. Now the buckets really started to flow and the rest of the Bangkok trip is hazy! A cracking night and we will leave the photos, when uploaded, to tell the rest of the story!
Our final day in Bangkok was sent with rather large hangovers. Well I did. Amanda somehow felt much better than me! Although, I am told that sensible Amanda made an aperance toards the end of the night and got us home in one piece. Note to self: Avoid excess gin and whisky bucket drinking, hangovers in the heat hurt and watching a spinning ceiling fan makes the room turn faster! So in summary - not much sightseeing but some good quality partying with friends. It was always the plan for Bangkok and my god we did it!!!!
