After breakfast Michael drove me out to Bath. I went to the information centre to get a map and decided on the places I wanted to go to and set off. First point of call was the Roman Baths. I'd seen so many pictures and had read a bit about the history of this place and now being here, I was amazed by the beauty of the place and kept trying to imagine what it would've looked like in it hey day. I spent a fair bit of time here, well I kind of had to as there were quite a few people here so I spent most of my time waiting to look at everything. I then went to look at the Royal Circle and Crescent. I then wondered through all the back streets of Bath, taking it all in.
It was recommended to me to try the Sally Lund cakes, but when I went to go in there was queues out the door, so I decided that it was time go to back. I caught the train back to Chippenham and Michael came and picked me up from the station. We were heading out to Avebury later this afternoon so Michael and I waited until Mary returned from volunteering at the local OP shop.
When Mary returned we drove out to Avebury to look at the circle of stones. I'd never heard of the circle of stones before and was intrigued as to what it was going to be like. It was about an hour drive from Chippenham and the drive was really nice. We drove through quite a few villages along the way which we really quite nice and very English and also saw the white chalk horse, which was on the side of a hill.
The circle of stones is literally what it says. These stones surround the village of Avebury. These stones are over 5000 years old and unlike Stonehenge you can walk right up to them, also the sight is a lot larger than Stonehenge. We wondered around the stones for quite a while, then walked over to the village and had a look. We then drove back to Chippenham.
