Hõla! Just arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica today and I'm already wishing I was fluent in Spanish. I'm making out ok but it sure would be a lot easier! When we landed it was pouring rain which was depressing, but by the time we exited the airport it had stopped. But my checked baggage was completely soaked.. I guess they let it sit outside! No electronics in there so I was fine. The airport was easy to navigate, quite small and there were English signs. My departure from Houston also went quite well as they upgraded me to "premier access" which basically meant I got to skip the line (woohoo) and I got a nice roomy seat on the plane. Outside the airport was totally stressful. All of a sudden I had 20 Spanish dudes in my face yelling "TAXI?!" Or "BUS?!" Or "WHAT YOU LOOKING FOR?" all while I'm trying to search out the guy who's supposed to pick me up! Finally I decided to answer one guy and told him I was looking for Diego. He held up a sign with my name on it.. It was him! Good thing I didn't blow him off like the others. Funny how that works out! We got in his cab and he drove me to my Hostel which was about a 30 min drive from the airport. I got to enjoy some beautiful scenery (mountains and so much green!!) and also caught a glimpse of downtown which was crazy busy. So many people and once you get downtown the drivers are insane. Finally we get to the hostel which is in a great area! It is across the street from the bank and a supermarket and the university is situated behind. The hostel is pretty nice but not very busy today. There is a guy here who goes to McGill so he's been my friendly English speaking friend for the night. For dinner I walked across the street to the store and bought a few things to make my own supper. They have a nice kitchen here with basically everything you need! There's not much to do in San Jose and I arrived at about 4 pm so I've just been hanging out at the hostel. Tomorrow I'll leave for the sloth sanctuary at 7 am! I'm so very excited to get there!! On another note my phone has been giving me trouble with iMessage since I got a replacement in Houston so email might have to work for now but you can try either! Missing Kev, Val, David, and Susan! Had a great time with them in Houston and I wish I could've stayed a little longer! Also in order to post these blogs I have to post a picture with it. So today I give you costa rican currency! It's pretty awesome cause theres a sloth on it.That's all for now! Chau! (Pronounced chow)
