Another day on the road today. Travelled from Granada to a beachy resort near Poneloya. On our way to the surfing turtle resort we stopped off at an active volcano to do a spot of hiking and volcano boarding. It was incredible. We hiked up a completely black rubble 765m high volcano for about an hour. My god it was hard work and crazy windy. Almost went over the side at one stage! But once we got to the top all the pain was forgotten and the view and excitement of what was to come took over. After getting suited up like mechanics with elbow and knee pads and googles we moved to the edge. It was incredibly scary and I think this was the closest I have come to chickening out of something. After watching a couple of people go down in front of me my fear became worse. Too late right, there was no way I was walking back down. So I sat down on the wooden sled and began the very quick descent down the mountain. It was very fast and even when you tried to slow down by digging your heels in it didn't do much. Luckily I made it to the bottom without injury. Tick that off the bucket list! We then continued on our way to the beach. We got on a tiny little boat and travelled about 5 minutes and then walked 10 minutes on the beach to paradise! Walking up to the resort it looked incredible! A little chilled surfy spot with grass roofed huts, volley ball nets, hammocks and lots of sunshine. Beers were ordered not long after arrival and that began the night hanging out by the camp fire on the beach!
