Today we drove to the North Shore. This area is much less developed and touristy than Waikiki and very popular with surfers. The day was cloudy and windy with the sun making an occasional appearance. We spent most of today at Kualoa Ranch which is a cattle station about a 40 minute drive from Honolulu. We went up into the mountains where it was drizzly and overcast. The scenery is spectacular and photos don’t do it justice. The day stayed mostly overcast which meant the greenery wasn’t as vivid as it could be. We were lucky our quad bike tour started at 8.30am because this was the driest part of the day. There were only 4 of us in the group with a guide....

Last night’s entry didn’t post either so this is my last attempt. Yesterday we went to Pearl Harbour. We did a tour of the grounds and the USS Arizona memorial. It is hard to believe the ship is only 8 feet under the water and pasts of it are visible. It is awful to think that over 900 men are entombed with the wreck. The memorial site is very well done. The blog failed to post & as it is nearly midnight, I’m not rewriting it. Today was spent shopping & watching the sunset over Waikiki beach. A beautiful sight.

Our flight was delayed by nearly an hour as the plane was late coming into Sydney but I don’t think we arrived much later than scheduled. The flight was pretty bumpy at times through the night & sleep was broken by flights attendants walking through the plane checking seat belts. But, at least we got some sleep.
