Hey everyone,
Our resident blogger is currently immersed in Facebook so we have taken it upon ourselves to write today's blog, so if it is not up to the usual 'hilarity' then we sincerely apologise.
Currently residing in Luang Prabang after a somewhat epic journey from Vang Vieng yesterday. Bus was driven by a 14 year old speed demon who piloted our large vehicle over the bendiest roads in the world with sheer drops on either side. A welcome break from this torture took the form of a fresh sandwich which we later discovered was smeared with human blood. Mmmm Hep B.
Anyway, moving on, Vang Vieng was great with highlights of:
Refreshing swim in the river at sun set, which was actually a fight not to be washed downstream, Floating around in caves, in the dark, sitting in giant tractor tyres, enormous rope swings into the river, which Ally (after a few local beers) hurled herself off, executing a gymastic manoeuvre scoring a 7.8 form the local judges. A two hour wait for baked potatoes, which upon their arrival were not huge fluffy delicious jackets, but alas, were small boiled potatoes, which had somehow managed to misplace their fillings and acquired a smnattering of pepper, rendering them inedible. (It turned out that the staff didn't know what the English menu said, so just guessed at the various dishes, with unexpected results).
Luang Prabang concisely: is French(ish), Mekong (again), hot with markets and exotic promises of monks, temples and waterfalls (water permitting).
Much love as always,
first time bloggers xx
