We fear from our last blog entry that we may have given you a slightly warped impression of our time travelling to date. Contrary to the image we may have given you, we are all safe and neither rabied nor delirious from the Malarone medication.
Left Bangkok at 7.AM on Friday morning, for twleve hour journey across the border. Cambodia is completely different to Thailand-it begins with a C.
Impressions of the country to date are as follows: Hot. Yesterday it reached a crotch sweating thirty eight, potentially forty degrees. Even though we are hydrating to the point of becoming camels, we are still achieving heat rash (which Dom is combating with his moisturiser.)
Have visited lots of temples, or in particular, Angkor Wat. Highlights included: Stones, a pair of carved monkeys in a provocative position, making a move on Buddha. On the serious side, visiting a local land mine museum was a bit of a reality shock. Children are everywhere begging for money and it can be hard to resist their persuasive selling techniques.
This morning we watched Sponge Bob on Sky, before dining on croissants in a local cafe (probably being the poorest customers there due to our lack of Apple Macs.) We are shortly off to a local swimming pool, which we feel will be a particularly culturally enriching experience.
We miss the temperature of home and Western food, but think we may stick this whole Asian thing out a bit longer...
Lots of special Cambodia love xx
