Our first day cruising in the Caribbean….. blowing a gale….literally….. Force 8 all day. Not exactly the idyllic surroundings we were expecting. It has been hot and sunny - IF- you could get out of the wind. We managed to find a nook by the pool this morning and I settled there for a read. The pool was empty of course otherwise there would have been a tempest in there too.
Bob went to a lecture on the history of transatlantic liners which he said was fascinating. After lunch we settled down in the Crow's Nest with our art stuff and painted all afternoon. We are both making a copy of one of the Bernard Cheese watercolours from our cabin. Bob is doing the cycling one I have already tried. He has already got a better perspective adjusted circle than I did. I'm doing one called Mountain Village which has quite an intricate foreground of terracotta roofed houses tiered up a mountain with fields and distant mountains surround. We enjoyed ourselves.
G&Ts back in the cabin, catch up with the emails and dinner about 8ish. A nice enough table. After dinner we went to the show which was a split bill between a group of 3 West End women singers and a pair of Scottish brothers. Really great. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
We dock in Curacao at 9 and we have a dive shop meeting us to go diving. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully afterwards we will still have enough time to explore Willemstad a bit.
