Our last sea day before San Francisco and it was a bright if rather chilly one. Maybe 15C but bright sunny skies. I did see some people sunbathing by the pool but they were braver and obviously more desperate than me!
We got up late to the news that Lucy's flat purchase is looking a bit dicey after drifting on now for about 5 months. Very much fingers crossed that it doesn't collapse at this point but it's not looking particularly good. Gutting really. When we sailed in early January we thought she'd be in by the end of the month.
Went and had a look at the shop sale but it was a load of old rubbish really. So, got a seat in the Crow's Nest with my art stuff and a photograph of a large watercolour we have on the cabin wall by a famous artist. It's a scene from Tuscany I would say depicting the Tour de France wending it's way through a rural farming area. Or it could be Provence I suppose…. Anyway, I thought I would give it a go. This chap has a very interesting blobby technique. I must say it was fun to do and I am quite pleased with the result although my perspective is not quite right. I have finished it to the point where I have to put the bicycles in. Or maybe I'll put something else in…. not really sure….
This afternoon we had the art exhibition and Bob and I had 5 paintings each in. I was pleased to note that we have made a lot of progress on this voyage. We are still not nearly as good as some, but on the other hand we are definitely better than others now. Not that it is in any way a competition at all and I don't mean it like that, but it is good to see progress. We made sure we were there for the end of the exhibition this time LOL. Didn't want all that palaver with missing paintings again.
Very nice dinner tonight with an elderly couple from Australia who are sailing on to the UK and then having 4 days in London. Gave them some sightseeing tips and ideas. They've never been on an Underground before.
After dinner we went to the show which was two male vocalists splitting it half each. They were both absolutely superb in very different ways.
So, earlyish night in preparation for arrival at breakfast. We actually pick up the pilot at 0530 and pass under the Golden Gate Bridge at 0630. It will still be dark so we're not getting up that early as anyway, we have sailed under it before. Still, an exciting day ahead.
