Simon's latest brainwave is a Doddle from Cape Town to Cairo in our beloved landcruiser. The countdown has now begun and we are due to leave on Friday 31st of January 2014.
The route is literally Cape Town to Cairo as per the attached map. This will take approximately 94 days so we will be travelling February, March and April...... What a way to start the year!
The Countries we will be visiting are:
Zimbabwe - Zimbabwe Ruines, Motopos, Hwange, Victoria Falls
Zambia - Victoria Falls, Lusaka, Kasanka National Park, Kapishya Hot Springs
Tanzania - Mbeya, Iringa, Dar-es-Salaam, Jozani Forest (endangered red Colobus monkeys), Pangani River, Meserani Snake Park, Ngorongoro Conservation area, Serengeti National Park, Mwanza, ferry across Gulf of Mwanza
Rwanda - Rusumu Falls, Rwanda National Park, Kigali, Ruhengeri, Parc National des Volcans and the mountain gorilla's
Uganda - Kisoro, Lake Mburo National Park, Entebbe, Murchison Falls National Park (chimpanzee spotting), Jinja
Kenya - Lake Bogoria NP (flamingoes and hot water geysers), Marsabit NP
Ethiopia - Moyale, Bale Mountain NP (Ethiopian Wolves), Addis Ababa, Debra Markos, Bahir Dar, Blue Nile Falls, Lake Tana, Lalibela, Axum, Rash Dashen mountain peak (4543m), Gondar
Sudan - Bayuda Desert, Gedaref, Khartoum, Karima, Nubian Desert, Wadi Halfa
Egypt - Aswan, Luxor, Valley of the Kings and Queens, Western Desert, White Desert, Cairo, El Alamein, Alexandria and then on a plane back home from Cairo!
Sounds like an epic journey to me and just hope my camera survives.
