Night location: Stockholm, Sweden
It was a long transit day today, but we have made it to Stockholm and its balmy seven degree weather with a shade of misty drizzle. The beauty of this city was not dimmed however as the sun stubbornly pierced through the dark grey and blue clouds making the light rain look like snow falling on the cobbled streets. Trees with their leaves turning crimson and gold glistened and a bold rainbow completed the postcard picture.
We checked in to our hotel and walked across a small island with the Parliament House built on it to the old city centre and its paved laneways running next to the Royal Palace. David spotted a taco bar so we stopped and enjoyed a Mexican feast. Waffles seem to be very popular here with at least five shops that we saw selling them. We succumbed to the delicious smell and had dessert in a cute cafe before returning back to the warmth of our hotel.

Althea Halliday I've taken a turn for the better, reading the blog at lunchtime instead of in the somnolent hours. In your description, I immediately sensed the charm of this city, with the cloud-coloured sky providing a striking counterpoint to the turning leaves. It is not surprising that you turned in for waffles. A bit of sugar would have done you good after such a long day!
