Night location: Rome, Italy
It is little wonder that we return again and again to Rome. We woke to a beautifully blue skied day and after a sumptuous breakfast that was brought to our room on trays, we set off through the quietly cool streets to Vitti for a coffee. Since 2011, every visit to Rome has included at least one stop at this cafe. Founded in 1898 and set in a bustling piazza with delicious Sicilian cannoli, Vitti is well worth the tourismo sit down coffee prices.
There is something entirely unique about walking through Rome. Every street seems more picturesque then the last, and just when you think you've seen it all, you turn a corner and stumble upon a 6th Century BCE Egyptian obelisk dedicated to Caesar Augustus, brought to Rome in 10CE.
We visited all of our favourite shopping haunts and then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Antico Forno Roscioli, a traditional pizza bar and bakery. Following this we wandered past the Pantheon to Gelato San Crispino for the best honey ice cream you'll find anywhere.
After an afternoon rest we ventured back into the heart of Rome to Piazza Pietra for dinner at Osteria dell'Ingegno followed by a gelato from Venchi. On the way back to our apartment we stopped by the Trevi Fountain which draws crowds of tourists, and for good reason.

Althea Halliday Ah, yes! The magnificence of it all! We are travelling with you in spirit, imagining that we are eating gelato, or standing by the the Trevi Fountain where we threw coins over our shoulders and made a wish. xx
