More tours this time to the Barossa Valley for a bit of wine tasting. This is where they make Jacob's Creek. Once we'd sobbered up we headed off to Kangaroo Island for a three day organised trip. A great place to live if you're a sports fan. Cricket (MCG), Tennis (Rod Laver Arena), Aussie Rules Football (Telstra Dome) and F1 GP (Albert Park). Melbourne is the hottest place we've been to so far with temperatures of 41 degrees! It would be rude not to make the most of being in the sporting capital of Australia so we took a tour of the MCG, fitted in a day at the Australian Open Tennis and watched the Men's Final on a giant TV screen in Federation Square ...

We only left ourselves two and a half weeks to get from Brisbane to Melbourne in time for the F1 GP. So not a great deal of time! We explored in and around Brisbane for a couple of days and made sure we visited a few National Parks and Australia Zoo (run by the late Steve Irwin and family). We only spent a week here which is a couple of weeks too short as there is so much to see. Taz has not one but two breweries so naturally we had to visit both (for the record Cascade and Boag's) and make the most of the free beer tasting. Boag's Premium was my favourite (hint hint). Only a slight smell of rotten eggs in the air! There were plenty of hot springs and bubbling mud to keep us amused for a few days. We also had a go at white water rafting. Rotorua has the longest commercial drop - a seven metre waterfall - in the world. The fun bit is the raft is only three metres long! Not sure how we managed it but we stayed in the boat. Great fun!
