Well made it to Puno cannot get my pictures on, this is a city beside Lake Titicaca. It is at 3800 meters above sea level so you get out of breath easily and also get sunburt as the sun is so strong. You feel as if you are up in the clouds. The journey from Cusco was one of the most memorable ones I have done just seeing the people in there traditional dress with lamas, cows and sheep. They have wells no running water. One thing my travels have taught me is how precious water is and how we take it for granted. Arriving in Puno one of the favourite modes of transport is cycle rickshaw, we took one of these to the port it was fun. We got one a boat and went out to some of the islands on Lake Titicaca most are inhabited it took us three hours to get there. The women on the islands were colourful skirts and black shawls this is from the spanish moor influence. We had a lovely lunch of soup and trout, then we had a rather choppy journey to another island where we stayed with an older couple Alhandra and Grazella, they made us so wellcome. The island was so peaceful reminded me of Gigha except they have running water there. We had a lovely soup and potatoes, cheese and rice followed by Muncha a herb tea for dinner. It was cooked on a stone fire. We then dressed in traditional dress and went to a fiesta where we all danced to guitars, panpipes and drums there were 2 bands. We were up at 6 am and on the boat by 7 am with chinuhas hats we bought on the island knitted by the family.
After 3 hours we reached the Uros reed islands I have never seen anything like it the people live on reed islands with reed houses and boats. We went for a sail on one of the small reed boats it was so sturdy. They even had a fish farm. I will try and get the pictures on somewhere. I leave for Bolivia tomorrow but have really really enjoyed Peru and would like to come back some day with better Spanish. It is heavy rain and thunder and lightening this afternoon but it was sunshine this morning. It was lovely being on the lake with the bright blue skies the reed islands and the snow capped Andes in the background. I hope stewart had a good birthday and everyone enjoys Halloween, I probably do not need to dress up for Halloween I would scare everyone just by the way I look now. Enjoy yourselves next stop Bolivia tomorrow, this time next month I will be back with my clouds in Scotland what a scarey thought. Excuse my spelling and grammar but would rather right badly than waste time correcting things I can correct once I am back home. Have to start thinking of what I am going to do when I get back what a frightening thought, might just leave that for the plane journey home. Looking forward to Bolivia again do not know how often be able to get to the internet so it might be a while till I write.
