The bus ride to PM was 19 hours, which I was initially dreading but the ride was amazing! I booked a super cama seat (the nicest- only because it was all that was left!) and it was fully reclining, you get biscuits and coffee, and wine, and dinner! Certainly not like the buses at home. Puerto Madryn isn´t the most exciting place in the world, but it´s the gateway to the Peninsula Valdes National Park. The morning after arrived I set off on a tour to the park, with a few others from the hostel. It was absolutely freezing, which was a shame but the park itself was beautiful. After a few hours driving through a typical Patagonian landscape (miles and miles of flat nothingness, basically) we arrived at the park. The main attraction here is the wildlife, although it was too windy for us to go out whale watching. Still, we saw penguins, seals and sea lions. The following day I decided to catch a bus to Bariloche, near the Chilean border. As the bus didn´t leave until 9.30, I headed to Trelew and Gaimon, the Welsh speaking towns. Again, they were hardly the most exciting places in the world. In Gaimon I visited a museum the guidebook rates as the top ´weird and wacky´attraction- hundreds and hundreds of models made entirely out of recycled cans and bottles. A complete waste of time really, but quite fun to look around. After that, I headed to Ty Cymru- a traditional Welsh casa de te, for a traditional Welsh tea. The plate of little pastries and cakes was pretty impressive, although I have to admit I´m not quite sure what makes it ´Welsh´- I never saw a tea house like that in Cardiff. At about five I headed back to Puerto Madryn, to wait for my bus.
