So, that's South East Asia done and dusted. What an experience. It's hard to think when coming from an Island thats surrounded by sea that countries stuck together can be so different....but they really can. I can happily say I've pretty much mastered the art of the squat toilet and can now say hello and thank you in 3 new languages!! (well, kinda!) As soon as the train got into Bangkok- we were whisked away to the war cemetrys and the bridge over the River Kwai. The cemetries were for the POW who had died building the railway from Burma to Thailand. The museum described how the conditions the POW worked in were absolutely terrible and hundreds died from starvation, disease and exhaustion. A sobering experience.
