We had a few days to spare in the north island before we leave New Zealand so we thought we'd go see something a bit different. Rotorua is a city based around an old volcano and so there are geysers and hotpools all over the place, as well as an overpowering smell of sulphur. We spent two days there and had a great time. Day one was spent in a spa trying out all the different temp. pools and discovering that 42C is pretty damn hot. The second day we did a little trip around the area going to see a buried village from when the volcano last erupted a hundred years ago or so, and a thermal park. The park was tres cool with loads of bubbling pools and huge clouds of sulphurous gas floating around. A bit like going into Mike's room. In the evening Alice had a spa and facial and then we went to see a blues band. However, after two days we couldn't take the smell anymore and are now in Auckland frantically cramming Spanish before we go to Chile tomorrow. Adios for now...
