In an effort to escape the rain which had been dogging us all along the west coast we headed back east to Dunedin. We initially thought that it was probably going to be a boring little place which we would only stop off at for a night or two. As it turned out there were quite a lot of things to do and we ended up staying four nights in quite a nice old backpackers rummoured to have a resident ghost. Given its haunted nature it was probably a bad idea to watch scary movies while we were there but we like to live on the edge - hardcore.
The first day we were there it did rain, pretty spectacularly in fact and we manged to get stuck out in it and get completely soaked through. After that it brightened up nicely and while remaining pretty cold we did manage to get out and enjoy the penisula. While we didn't see any of the sealions, albatroses (albatri? We've had arguments about this) or penguins that were supposed to be all over the place we did manage to almost run over a sheep. They're everywhere! We also fitted in a trip to Cadbury's World. Let's just say it's no Willy Wonka's. I did have to wear a face mask because I hadn't shaved though. It made me feel very grown up.
