Angkor What!
In Siem Reap there is a lively area of many bars, clubs and restaurants. The main road is called pub street. We headed here one evening for something to eat and ended up in a bar, cleverly, named Angkor What! It was a fairly small bar with fluorescent U.V graffiti on the walls and cheap drinks.
Whilst having a quiet tipple, two guys approached the bar with that, I'm going to get abliterated look in their eyes. One was Canadian and the other was German, they were both on a mission.
The menu had some interesting choices such as Absinthe and a Cocktail called Kryptonite. This was Absinthe shots dropped into a glass of Redbull - Jaeger Bomb style. Before we knew it, they had downed a shot of absinthe each. We pointed out the Kryptonite option and, probably through fear of not looking manly enough, downed a glass each as fast as the previous shot.
These lads were in for an interesting night. We left at about 2am with them still dancing - and doing absinthe shots for most of the night.
The following night we had arranged to meet Rodney - who we met in Chiang Mai - as our paths were crossing again.
He met us at Angkor What! with two people he had met along the way, Holly from England and Wade from Canada. I, hilariously, jumped out on him in the street pretending to mug him, scaring the bejesus out of them all. It's always important to make a good first impression.
We had something to eat and mid-meal told an approaching man that it was a good place to eat. Shortly after he refused to pay. Whoops.
We headed to Angkor What! and had a really good night of drinking, dancing like epileptics and sweating. The place was packed full of weird and wonderful people, including our new friends from the previous night - who were still as enthusiastic as the night before. We loved those guys...so much so, we can't remember their names.
At the end of the night I was being pestered by a rose seller, Rodney thought he'd help me out by buying one for me. This just lead me to sword fight the, child rose seller until I was being physically assaulted by her. Cheers Rod.
We eventually and reluctantly parted ways with Rodney for the last time and staggered home.
