17/02/09: Quite a long but beautiful drive to Wellington- the roads are nothing like in England- havent seen one traffic jam and mostly we are country roads in the mountains or going through small towns and villages (never seen so many sheep). We've just arrived and it looks more foriegn than Auckland and like a bigger more cultural city! Going up a hill soon to watch the sunset! Oh and we done a music quiz on the bus on the way here- it was 54 tv theme tunes and my saturday night quiz team will be disappointed to know that me and lil alex managed to get an amazing 7 out of 54! We walked up to the lookout point with a guy called Chris from Austria who is in our room. I only made it halfway up cos it was very steep and so I let the boys go the rest of the way while I chilled on a bench and looked out at a beautiful view of the city in dusk!! Come back to hostel and got ready to go bar- i put on my nice flowery dress- but when we got there everyone was a bit grungy, so felt slightly out of place but enjoyed a nice cider and a game of BINGO!! Lil alex couldnt believe i knew all the bingo lingo!!

18/2/09: Up and out to explore the city- I love it- it is the best place so far! It is sooo cosmopolitan. We walked all around the harbour- I've never seen so many skateboarders, rollerbladers and joggers! Then up to the parliament buildings where there was all the business people in suits rushing around there business! But everyone was so friendly- we was looking at the map and some bloke was like "are u ok? do u need any help?". Then we hit all the shops- loads of cool shops- i brought some passionfruit body butter from body shop for my sunburn- it was only $22- about 8 pounds! Had a pie for lunch. Then headed to the museum- it was free and probably the best museum we have been to so far! Stopped at supermarket for supplies before coming back to hostel! I gave lil alex another cooking lesson- broccoli and cauliflower cheese with fried tinned potatoes, onion and tomato! Then we walked along the beach and watched the sunset and had an ice cream. Come back to hostel and had a drink in the bar with Austrian Chris and another guy in our room. Now going bed cos got an early start- getting bus at 7.
