I have been home a week and here are some lists.
Things I miss:
Seeing a new place every day
Having money
My endless supply of hayfever pills
Rain. Apparently Britain has forgotten how to do it
The excuse for wearing dirty clothes
Almost each and every person I met
Funny accents
Hearing Same Love by Macklemore up to 5 times a dayHoney, I'm home!
Things I have appreciated since returning...
- 'GENTS' instead of 'MENS'
- Bendy roads and non-grid systems
- Nighttime darkness
- Not having hotel kitchens tell me "your mum isn't here so put all your dry dishes away"
- Welcome home cake (3-tiered british coloured inside and out with blueberries) and banners and cards
- Proper English accents ie. northern
- Luscious summer greenery without humidity
- My bedroom!
New things/toys I have brought back:
T shirts
Suit, casual jacket and shorts
1 kilo of love handles
The feather hackey sack thing from 'Nam
Skate board and stickers
A passport full of stamps
Glow in the dark origami paper
Various coins and an Aussie $10 note
My Thai cook book
2 sets of mardi gras beads; green from Lyn and gold from Gaby
My USA hostels SF badge (I dumped the t shirt, it was probably soaked in very poisonous levels of cleaning product vapours anyway...
The soccer beer cooler
Natalie's cousin's CD
Icelandic postcards to be written
My fire protection talisman
Cambodian bracelet
My lobster apron
Rabies (jokingggg)
