A recap on the aims of my adventure: to try a bit of everything, find places I like and meet friends and relatives old and new. And enjoy any other benefits that come with it. I tell you this because I was at a point worrying about not doing enough whilst I was here (various places) but taking into account my budget and time limits reminded me I never planned to complete the entire checklists of well appreciated recommendations of my friends and family. I got fed up with the whiny attitude I got from the Cambodians in the cities I have visited here and cut Cambodia short to spend more time travelling down to Singapore.
I will consider giving the country another chance however I would like to travel a different direction; north/south and see more of Laos too. The food here wasn't that great either but I am looking forward to returning to Thai food tomorrow :) (food poisoning has returned, coincidentally with another unpleasant bus journey) but I did enjoy some well bartered for coke and pineapple this morning. I am not looking forward to paying for ATMs again though. Tsk. I have researched my route to Singapore which SEEMS easy and allows time for stops at Krabi for phi phi; Kuala Lumpa and a place called Butterworth which sound tasty! I'm looking forward to that and assume I will meet some people in Khaosan Road tonight.
I am building a list of films I want to see/resee because of the places I have seen. At the moment this includes but is not limited to The Beach, Tomb Raider and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Hopefully, they will be available on my flight to Perth. I am glad I didn't try to fit in Battenbong today, not least because the buses would have cost another $10!
On a plus I did really enjoy Angkor Wat and the accompanying places and had we had more energy (me and my new Aussie friends I met whilst choosing a cake in the Blue Pumpkin to cover the dodgy but crispy sandwich I got on the street) we would have played hide and seek Lara Croft style at her temple ruins which are deliberately kept to look neglected which makes me smile. This was the 3rd time on my trip I thought of the scouts and games
Current Top Scout places
1 Japanese gardens for hill rolling
2 Kayaking down the Mekong
3 Running around the ruins irritating bored looking tourists who were just standing still.
