Surfers Paradise.. Really? It looks pretty, quite Miami-ish with the skyscrapers on the beach. Maybe it just wasn't a good start for us. We get off the bus in the pouring rain, rucksacks on, day bags on our fronts and food bags in each hand. Quite hungover, no one was there to pick us up, we couldn't find anyone who knew where our hostel was and I needed food. I spotted a subway and gave into temptation instantly. Luckily Kate did too so I wasn't the only fatty. We managed to google map the hostel and started the walk in the rain luckily it was only half a mile, we did have a funny walk though, all laughing and joking, Livy was walking a little bit ahead because Kate and I stopped to have a laughing fit, when we looked up Liv was on the floor!!!! We couldn't tell if she was hurt so we held back our giggles then as we got closer we realised it was a cross between her laughing and her crying in pain, we couldn't hold out any longer, we all just sat there in hysterics in the pouring rain. Once we checked in, we all got in our beds and passed out for hours, we needed it to get over the hangover, that night we didn't fancy going out so walked into town in search of dinner. I have been craving Nandos for 6 weeks and so today was the day, I practically skipped over to it, took my first bite and disappointment kicked in. It did NOT taste the same. That dream got crushed, now lets move on. Just about we were about to leave, the heavens opened again and the rain was bouncing off the floor, we waited a while but it wasn't easing off so we had to grin and bear it and walk home as quickly as possible. There was a group of girls sitting in the tv room watching Eat, Pray, Love - the perfect film for a traveller to watch. It's set in Bali too which is already somewhere were dying to go. Sadly the film was near the end but it put us in the mood to watch another tearjerker, The Notebook, wow, we each cried for the whole thing. The next morning and HELLO PUFFY EYES, could bearly open them, attractive! We pottered around town having a shop, I bought new 'thongs' meaning flip flops off course. Found these really cool bench beds on the beachfront and laid there for an hour, they were curved like sunbeds, mmm so relaxing! We pottered back to our hostel, felt so sluggish and lethargic so I put on my Toms and tried to go for a run, after 20 mins I was sweating beyond belief, (looked like I had just got out the bath) and my Toms had formed symmetrical blisters on both my feet, I went back, kicked off the plimsoles and just did exercises there instead, wow I needed that shower after. We slowly got ready and headed out into town to see what the nightlife is like, it has been described to us as being like 'Geordie Shore' so wasn't to sure what to expect. We went to a couple of bars but I had Skype dates arranged with family and the lovely Katy Dooley so I spent most of my time outside them. After realising we weren't 18 and felt out of place around the schoolies, we cut our loses and went back to the hostel for a couple of drinks there. Next day we were getting out of there, after a struggling early start, we go on our way to the bus stop, poor Vidal has been up all night being ill, it wasn't a good journey for her either. See ya Surfers, I can't say we'll miss you but thanks for the hospitality.

Aunty Carol Hi Alex, great to Skype with you on 'the Baker Christmas day'. Your place on the sofa was taken by the males in the family so you were truly missed! I read your blogs with a constant smile on my face as it reminds me so much of trips me and your Mum made a few moons ago! Can't wait till the next one. Enjoy xx
