We arrived in Bangalore at around 10am, found a luggage counter inside the station where we could dump our bags for the day and got in a taxi to the town. All the restaurants were closed until 11.30 due to an election that had been going on so we waited in a crap coffee chain and watched The Inbetweeners on Nelen's laptop. We ended up going into a restaurant called Sunny's that Lonely Planet recommended, we made the mistake of not asking to see a menu before sitting down, turned out to be a littleee bit pricey. Kate and I got a salad each and shared a pasta, ended up still costing us over £7.. I know, it's only £7 and back at home that it beyond a bargain for some posh nosh but we class it as expensive in India. Afterwards we had a challenging time with various tuk tuk men trying to scam us, we finally got to Raja market. Which is known for its Gold and Liv was still on the hunt for something sparkly so we mooched around there for a few hours, sadly Liv couldn't find anything but Kate and Nelen bought some bracelets and other bits. I still was trying to be tight on the purse strings. Next on the days agenda was the Mantri mall - well when you only have a day in a city, what else is there to do but shop!! It was fun walking around the shops, trying bits on that we will never buy. Although I did fall in love with some Rayban sunglasses and was sad to leave them on the shelf :( Kate and Liv found a sports shop that was selling converse trainers for ridiculously cheap so bought a pair each and Nelen bought a new dress. Again, I was going to leave empty handed so I wasn't going to leave empty stomached too. I wanted try to one of McDonalds infamous masala (veggie) burgers but it wasn't open so we went to KFC to see what Indian delights they offered. Very strange menu, we all ended up with some concoction of spicy potato burger/fries and curry sauce. Apart from the service from the cashier and the fact it took me 25 minutes to make all our orders, it was pretty dam good food. Livy's mums cousin lives in Bangalore so we met up with her, her husband and their beautiful new baby daughter for dinner. They took us on a little wonder around one of their favourite areas in Bangalore (unfortunately I can't remember what it was called, opps). Victoria (Liv's relative) has lived in India for 7 years so it was great being with her, speaking to the locals and explaining stuff to us that we never knew what it is. She also took us to a temple that had been found 20 years ago, buried underground, we arrived just when the Hindu prays had started so we could only stay there for a short while but it was quite a sight, watching everyone chanting, sitting around a well in the middle of the room. It was so overpoweringly loud but clearly a very sacred place. The dinner restaurant was open air , we let Victoria and her Indian husband run wild with the menu orders to try something new. Everything was off course delicious, and it went down very nicely indeed. Sadly time went to quickly and we had to jump in a taxi as soon as we finished the last mouthful. We cut it seriously fine on timings, which meant we had to run through the stations with our backpacks on and full bellies wobbling. Very close to throwing up along the way. Finally made it, sweating and panting in our train seats. Next stop Hampi!
