Day 15 was our last day in Canberra so we headed to the governmental building that made Canberra the capital it is today, Parliament house is a very new building that tries to encorporate as much of it's country in one building as possible through the marble flooring to the panels of wood that depict all of Australia's native fauna. They also dedicate certain elements of the building to Her Majesty The Queen, by having an Elizabeth Terrace which has a balcony looking right up the road to the War Memorial, we then looked at the Magna Carter that is stored in a glass case to protect a piece of work which is valued at $23 million which I thought was a pretty good idea. We were then given a tour of the building by their tour guide which told us the history of the building and facts about it, including the fact there are around 2,500 clocks throughout the building and between the 4 - 5 pointers is a light that flashes green when the house of representatives about to sit and then there is a red light between the 7 - 8 pointers which flashes when the senate are about to sit. We got to go into the senate and look at how the senate works and how the procedures/bills are past through and the seating position is ordered they also explained about the portraits hanging in the gallery who show the past prime ministers and past presidents of the senate which included the Honourable Senator Alan Ferguson (Sprat) who is a very close friend to the Wearing's and is Hugh's second cousin, and Sprat told me that the initial cost for the new parliament building was meant to be $200 million but ended up going a little over budget with the final estimation just over $1 billion. After the tour ended we met Theresa who is Rowan Ramsey's wife who is the MP for South Australia and has one of the largest constitunencies in the whole of Australia. Theresa gave us a behind the scenes tour of parliament and showed us where all the offices were and where the Prime Ministers office is, we then got to meet Mr Rowan Ramsey MP and he was a very nice person and it was a pleasure to meet him and talk to him when we had lunch together. He gave us tickets to see Question Time which is when you can watch the house of representatives all having a go at each other which provides great entertainment for everyone, and we could also see the Australian Prime Minister - Tony Abbott which was good because he had only just got back from Sri Lanka, so again we were lucky. After parliament house we then headed to Yass through Wee Jasper and some extremely picturesque mountains, once we arrived in Yass we stayed with Ian who is Hugh's brother and his wife Mari, and Ian gave Mum and I a quick tour of Yass and told us a bit about the history of the place.
