G'day! We are now in Carins, well Clifton Beach actually which is about 20mins drive from the city centre but counts as the Cairns area. We booked our appartment online last minute from Darwin and paid $90 a night but have been bumped up to a beach front appartment that is normally $130! It is bigger than our house at home and has a pool, BBQ, washing machine, dishwasher and is practically on the beach! Wonderful! And it is nice to have more than a couple of nights in one place (we've got 4 here). Also everyone here is really kind and friendly. On our first night we arrived at about 7pm and needed to get some food in, asked some people by the pool where the nearest supermaket was and a kind man named Hans from Melbourne took us there in his campervan and helped us do our shopping! Eugene who is looking after the office whilst the owners are on holiday this week has also been falling over himself to make sure we get the most out of our stay, and is the man we have to thank for the room upgrade.

We loved the Red Centre and all the natural wonders. Have to agree with Sian that the Kings Canyon was more impressive than Ayers Rock. Also felt sorry for the Olgas as they don't get nearly as much attention and are more beautiful, but maybe they prefer it that way!!
